East Coast
Game Conference

The East Coast Game Conference is a conference that was held locally in Raleigh, North Carolina each year. This conference is targeted at the game developers in the area, which is a large industry in the central part of North Carolina. The scope of this challenge was to develop a T-Shirt design that would be worn by event staff/volunteers and be sold in sizes from XS to 5XL to those in attendance at the East Coast Game Conference.

The Process

Generally, I like to start with a sketch to get my thoughts out in the open. However, sometimes the sketches become more than just a sketch; it becomes the literal line art for the final design. In the video, it shows the timelapse of this progression before the Mighty Gamebot design was converted to a vector file.

Options

Even if I feel confident in one design, I still prefer to create some alternative options if time allows. Here, additional designs are sketched out that would be the foundation of the three other designs.

Results

The Mighty Gamebot design is my favorite of all three designs, but I felt that the clients of this conference should have additional options. I created a plan for different tones for the conference. The blue ECGC design is a neutral design that will appeal to a broad audience. The white retro-themed design is a more minimalist approach that is brighter and neutral as well. The final dark-themed design has a more grunge aesthetic to it, which has could have a more niche appeal, but I felt that it should still be offered to the conference committee.
