Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) is a Data Science research institute attached to the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. This campaign is a snapshot of daily projects within the organization. At any time, a website for an up and coming project would have to be designed and branding would be requested.
Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) is a Data Science research institute attached to the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. This campaign is a snapshot of daily projects within the organization. At any time, a website for an up and coming project would have to be designed and branding would be requested.
Even if the data presented is strong and relevant, it is still expected that the information is presented in a professional and clear manner. These figures and illustrations have been used in several publications that have been presented at many data science conferences. The NHLBI DataSTAGE was the primary source of requests during my time at RENCI, however other projects required work from time to time.
NHLBI’s DataSTAGE was rebranded into NHLBI’s BioData Catalyst. This rebrand required a redesign of the old website to complement it. This redesign infused new design elements to give it more of a modern look.Â
RENCI has several ongoing projects and sometimes the scope of certain projects expands past the original vision. Project names and goals change. With that comes new branding. This is where I came in to design a new logo to meet the Helium team’s needs. This logo is on websites, print collateral, and etc.
Upon the initial logo design brief with the STopTox data science team in Brazil, it was discovered that a message needed to be established. That message would later be defined into a quick visual representation of what their revolutionary web tool does for scientists and chemists to prevent animal testing where possible.Â
The webpage for STopTOx was very basic and was reasonably function first in terms of design. However, this appearance gave it a very beta or unfinished look to it. I designed a user interface that still had the web tool front and center, but gave it an aesthetic that made it appear as the working product that it is. Â
